Root canal treatment under the microscope

Root canal treatment saves a tooth whose nerve is inflamed or has died. We work under a dental microscope because root canals are fine and often branched.

When root canal treatment is needed

The cause is usually deep decay or an injury to the tooth. Typical signs are persistent pain, sensitivity when biting, or swelling. Sometimes the inflammation only shows up on an X-ray.

Why with a microscope

  • High magnification and bright light reveal fine and additional canals.
  • The canals are prepared mechanically and cleaned thoroughly.
  • Healthy tooth structure is preserved as far as possible.
  • Teeth with difficult anatomy can often be treated too.

After treatment

A root-treated tooth usually needs a stable restoration, often a crown. We make it with CEREC in a single visit.

Frequently asked questions

Does root canal treatment hurt?

Treatment is carried out under local anaesthetic. Our aim is that you feel as little as possible during it.

How many appointments do I need?

That depends on the tooth and the extent of the inflammation. We discuss the plan with you before we start.

Can a tooth that was already treated be treated again?

Often yes. Retreatment under the microscope can save a tooth that would otherwise have to be removed. The examination shows whether this is possible.

What does health insurance pay?

German statutory health insurance covers root canal treatment under certain conditions. We discuss extra services such as treatment under the microscope with you beforehand.
