Dr. Romann Fehrentz / CEREC
CEREC: your ceramic crown in a single visit
With CEREC we design, mill and fit crowns, inlays, onlays and veneers right in the practice. In the vast majority of cases this takes only about two hours.
How the appointment works
- Prepare: the tooth is gently prepared.
- Scan: a small camera records the tooth digitally. We do not need impression paste.
- Design: your restoration takes shape on screen, and you can watch.
- Mill: the milling unit carves it from a ceramic block.
- Fit: we adjust the restoration and bond it in place. You can use it straight away.
What this means for you
- One visit instead of two, with no weeks of waiting.
- No temporary crown that can come loose.
- No impression, no gagging.
- Metal-free ceramic in the colour of your teeth.
- You leave the practice with the finished tooth.
When CEREC is possible
CEREC is suitable when the tooth can be saved: for large fillings, broken tooth walls, after root canal treatment, or for veneers on the front teeth.
We also make the crown on an implant with CEREC. The implant itself first needs three to four months to heal.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a CEREC treatment take?
In the vast majority of cases about two hours, from preparing the tooth to the finished restoration.
Do I need to come more than once?
In most cases no. Scanning, making and fitting happen on the same day.
What is the restoration made of?
All-ceramic. It is metal-free, tooth-coloured and well tolerated.
Does CEREC work on implants?
Yes. The crown on the implant is made with CEREC in a single visit once the implant has healed after three to four months.
What does a CEREC crown cost?
That depends on the tooth and the work involved. You receive a cost plan before treatment, which we go through with you.
